ABOUT XTERRA RACE:
It all began in 1996, when mountain biking and triathlon met in a duel of the strongest on Hawaiian island of Maui. The race included rough ocean swimming, mountain biking and running. It represented a new racing format that attracted both triathletes and mountain bikers. Mountain bikers brought their laid back style and confidence. Triathletes brought their hard workouts and passionate dedication. They soon discovered the common spirit and attitude that brought them together. No matter how different they were, they could not resist the challenges and excitement of this new multi-sport discipline.
From a one-day race taking place on the remotest island chain in the world - in Hawaii, XTERRA has evolved into a durable sports lifestyle that is attractive around the world. For the past 20 plus years, XTERRA has outgrown its 'race' status and has become a true way of life for thousands of fearless triathletes and runners worldwide.
