The Days of Josip Kašman festival is dedicated to the most important Croatian baritone of all time, born on Mali Lošinj – Josip Kašman – a baritone who sang at the opening of the famous Metropolitan Opera in New York and who was hailed all over the world as il principe dei baritoni – the prince of baritone.
"Opera under the starry Lošinj sky – In memory of Kašman" - a unique musical event - under the clear Lošinj sky, celebrated Croatian opera singers will perform arias and excerpts from operas that have made Josip Kašman famous all over the world – from Milan's La Scala, where after his first performance he was proclaimed the king of baritone and the most important baritone of his time, to the Metropolitan Opera in New York, at whose opening he sang while the audience hailed him as "il principe dei baritoni" - the prince of baritone. This year we mark the 100th anniversary of the death of this great artist.
The program is designed around Josip Kašman as the central soloist (in the concert, it will be baritone Leon Košavić), through which all the great works of opera literature that have marked Josip Kašman's career are covered, as well as opera titles that Kašman himself did not perform, but are part of the iron repertoire of every eminent theater today. In excerpts from the aforementioned titles, Košavić will be joined in duets, trios and quartets by the most successful soprano of the younger generation Darija Auguštan, the extraordinary mezzo-soprano Sofija Petrović and the brilliant tenor Martin Sušnik. Darijan Ivezić will be at the conductor's desk and the narrator of this spectacle will be the initiator of this project and the artistic and executive director of the festival Danijel Gašparović.
For the first time in Mali Lošinj, the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra will perform alongside our soloists.
