We are celebrating the coming of age of an exceptional manifestation: OSCARfest in Osor.
What else can be celebrated, and is it even possible to celebrate something on a desert island?
Peace? Perseverance? Boredom? Solitude? Confusion before life?
The rights you get as you come of age? Voting? Driver's license? Marriage?
What does it mean to deliver a cake to a desert island? A Trojan horse? A mob that pops out of a
cake? Hospitality? Laughing at a prank? The joy of survival? Unity?
Does coming of age also mean taking responsibility for the world's problems?
Coming of age also brings Weltschmerz (world-pain). Let's not let our celebration end in tears.
