To mark World Music Day, June 21st, the Lošinj Museum, the Mali Lošinj City Library and Reading Room, and the Tourist Board of the Town of Mali Lošinj proudly present a unique musical event celebrating the rich legacy of Arsen Dedić’s film music! Iconic themes from some of the most significant Croatian films and TV series, such as The Secret of the Old Attic, The Glembays, In the Registry, Full Steam Ahead, and many others, will shine in a brand-new musical expression. Thanks to the masterful arrangements of Zvonimir Radišić, these recognizable melodies will take on a fresh, moving note.
For the first time ever, two musical worlds merge in an extraordinary eight-member ensemble: a refined jazz quartet and an elegant classical string quartet. This fusion delivers a unique soundscape, where the improvisational freedom of jazz meets the rich texture of strings, with the ever-present sounds of the piano creating an unforgettable musical experience.
Matija Dedić, composer and jazz pianist, born into a family of musicians, began his musical journey at an early age. He is one of the most prominent Croatian jazz artists. Raised by his mother, singer Gabi Novak, and father, singer-songwriter Arsen Dedić, he was exposed to a wide range of musical genres from a young age. He discovered jazz early on, drawn by its abstract and personal approach to music. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned jazz musicians both internationally and locally. In addition to leading jazz figures, he occasionally performs with Croatia’s top artists across various genres. He has received the Croatian Composers’ Society Award as Best Jazz Composer and has won multiple "Status" awards for Best Jazz Pianist and "Porin" awards for Best Jazz Albums. In 2002, he was a finalist in the young jazz pianists’ competition at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival.
The Zvonimir Radišić Trio features the exceptional young guitarist and composer Zvonimir Radišić, along with seasoned jazz veterans Henry Radanović on double bass and Tonči Grabušić on drums. In 2023, the trio was nominated in three categories for the Porin Award: Best Jazz Album, Best Arrangement, and Best New Artist.
Vortex Strings is an all-female string quartet founded in 2016 in Zagreb, composed of academically trained artists who are members of esteemed orchestras in Croatia. The ensemble’s mission is to blend music, intellect, fashion, elegance, and power into their concert performances. The quartet includes:
