"The Platform travelled to Lošinj on the evening of the second day and were greeted by Dalibor Cvitković, Director of the Lošinj Tourist Board. Manfrina, a young folk troup performed Susak, a lively dance from the nearby island of Susak, celebrating island heritage. LOSINJ - ISLAND OF VITALITY
At Restaurant Za Kantuni, guests enjoyed a traditional lamb meal by chef Miro Biondić. At the close of the evening, IGCAT's President was invited to break the Lošinj krokant with the Director. This handmade almond brittle symbolises wealth and prosperity and is broken with a sword at weddings or public events.
The hosts showcased a video of Lošinj’s Guinness World Record for the tallest krokant ever made with 2.73 meters tall, 14 layers, weighing 57.5 Kg. This tradition is preserved by Petar Goleš and Katya Žic-Antunović of Moby Dick patisserie, whose smaller version won the 2024 World Food Gift Challenge.
Day 3 began at the Muzej Apoksiomena, where Mayor Ana Kučić and Dalibor Cvitković welcomed the group. Museum director Zrinka Ettinger Starčić introduced the bronze statue of Apoxyomenos, a 380 Kg ancient athlete recovered from Lošinj’s waters and preserved for over 2,000 years.
The tour highlighted Lošinj’s maritime heritage, where ancient trade routes, local ingredients, and island traditions have intertwined for millennia.
Later, a lunch at Deveron Pub featured a local Merenda, a light meal celebrating Kvarner’s culinary culture, with seasonal soup and fresh seafood, showcasing the Adriatic’s bounty."
