In his geometrically abstract works, Kovačević explores the relationships between primary colours, their overlapping and blending, continuing his long-standing fascination with colour that has marked his artistic practice. His latest works, created with coloured ink on canvas and paper, further develop his distinctive visual concept through a play of lines, colours and their mutual relationships.
Dragutin Dado Kovačević (Petrinja, 1954) graduated in Graphic Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, in the class of Professor Ante Kuduz. To date, he has held around twenty solo exhibitions and participated in approximately two hundred group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. He has received numerous international awards as a designer and cartoonist, while on the islands of Cres and Lošinj he is particularly well known as the founder and director of OskarFest in Osor, an international cartoon exhibition with an 18-year tradition.
This exhibition is the fourth in this year’s Summer at the Oil Mill programme, which is being held at Galerija Uljara Tuorić for the fourth consecutive year, with the support of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the Town of Mali Lošinj and the Tourist Board of the Town of Mali Lošinj.
