On the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2026, the international archaeological exhibition “The Mystery of the Osor Strigils” will open at the Museum of Apoxyomenos in Mali Lošinj.
The exhibition tells the story of ancient strigils – objects used for cleansing the body after exercise and bathing – from the collection of the Archaeological Collection of Osor. The Osor collection of strigils is considered the largest collection of such objects on the eastern Adriatic coast.
The authors of the exhibition, Martina Blečić Kavur, Zrinka Ettinger Starčić and Boris Kavur, will introduce visitors to the significance of these archaeological finds through a lecture and guided tour, highlighting their connection with the bronze statue of the young athlete – the Apoxyomenos.
The exhibition is organised in cooperation between the Lošinj Museum and the University of Primorska in Koper, as part of the international project “Osor onkraj mita / Osor beyond the myth”.
Admission is free for all visitors.
