The Association of Professional Fishermen "Ježinac" from Mali Lošinj proudly announces the fourth edition of the event “Dinner with a Fisherman”, which will take place on Friday, June 13th, starting at 6:00 PM in the beautiful Sv. Martin Bay.
This event is the result of the enthusiasm of local fishermen who wish to give back to their community for its support and to share their way of life, traditions, and skills – with both locals and visitors. In organizing and delivering the event, the fishermen are strongly supported by FLAG Vela Vrata, not only administratively, but also morally, with active participation in the educational part of the program.
The program begins at 6:00 PM with the preparation of fish dishes, whose aromas and flavors will invite all passersby to join in. At the same time, FLAG Vela Vrata will host demonstration workshops on fish cleaning and net mending, tailored for all age groups.
For the youngest visitors, a special storytelling session called “Fish Tales” will be held at 6:30 PM, intended for children aged 4 to 10.
At 7:00 PM, there will be a screening of the film “The Golden Age of Lošinj’s Maritime and Shipbuilding History”, prepared by the students of class 4.c from Maria Martinolić Elementary School, under the guidance of teachers Suzana Slavica and Rafaela Kuljanić – a powerful example of intergenerational cooperation and love for local history.
Starting at 7:30 PM, the atmosphere will be further enlivened by the musical group Macaklini, and the real Dinner with a Fisherman will begin around 9:00 PM – when visitors will be able to enjoy fish specialties and wine free of charge.
This event would not be possible without the ongoing support and recognition of the importance of the fishing community by the City of Mali Lošinj, the Mali Lošinj Tourist Board, and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, who co-finance this event every year. We sincerely thank them for that.
We also thank all our new and long-time collaborators – because “Dinner with a Fisherman” is not just an event, but an expression of community, love for the sea, and pride in our fishing heritage.
