The Lošinj Museum and the University of Rijeka invite you to the presentation of the book “Creski armiž” by academician Elso Kuljanić, former Rector of the University of Rijeka.
“Creski armiž” is a collection of Chakavian poems written in the dialect of Stivan on the island of Cres. Through his verses, the author evokes his native region, its people, customs and island way of life. At the same time, the book represents a valuable contribution to the preservation of cultural and linguistic heritage and also includes an extensive glossary of archaic words from the Stivan dialect.
The book and its author will be presented by Prof. Rajka Jurdana Šepić, PhD, editor of the book, Franjo Butorac, publisher, Julijano Sokolić, PhD, publicist, and academician Elso Kuljanić. The programme will be moderated by Zrinka Ettinger Starčić.
The presentation will also feature a musical programme with performances by Astrid Kuljanić, Mathew Muntz and Dario Kučić.
“Creski armiž” is a testimony to a particular place, time and language, seeking to preserve the richness of island tradition and dialect for future generations.
